WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
There will be NO refunds. Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

CAN WOMEN PARTICIPATE?
Yes, women are welcome to participate as solo racers or as part of a relay team.

WHY ARE IPODS/PORTABLE MEDIA DEVICES PROHIBITED?
IPods/portable media devices are strictly prohibited because of the unique urban makeup of this event. The obstacles involve jumping, crawling and climbing and thus lend themselves to headphone cord snags and dropped devices that result in back-ups and run-ins. This rule has been set to protect all involved parties from injury. Race staff will be aggressively enforcing this rule on race day.

HOW ARE THE OBSTACLES INCORPORATED INTO THE RACE?
Arrows along the race course will direct you to the obstacle locations. All obstacles must be completed as you work your way through the race, and your finishing time for the race will include the time it takes you to complete each obstacle.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN'T COMPLETE AN OBSTACLE?
All obstacles must be completed in order to continue on with the race. Racers are free to work together to complete any of the obstacles. However, racers who cannot complete an obstacle will not be permitted to finish the race and issued a DNF. Race staff will be enforcing this rule on race day.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO RACE?
All racers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this event.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO BE A VOLUNTEER?
All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this event.

HOW DOES THE WAVE START WORK?
Each racer will have the opportunity to select their wave. The Elite Wave, Wave 1 is open only to the first 300 racers who have posted an acceptable "qualifying" time in a previous URBANATHLON® event. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to event director approval. Changes may be made to your wave assignment at packet pick-up. Relay participants will automatically be assigned to Wave 3. Wave 2 is reserved for URBANATHLETES that purchase an “Upgrade Package”

Timing Headquarters keeps the official time clock for the competition. The race clock is real time; it begins when a racer crosses the timing mats at the start and stops when they cross the finish line. Racers who do not start as part of their assigned wave will not be given a finish time and will not be listed in the results.

Staging for the race start will begin 30 minutes prior to start. Racers need to look for their assigned wave's staging sign within the start area and line up first-come, first-served.

HOW DOES WAVE ONE WORK?
Wave One is open only to the first 300 racers who have posted an acceptable "qualifying" time in a previous URBANATHLON® event. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to event director approval.

If you qualify and choose to compete in this wave:

  • You will be identified by a separate bib color
  • You will have a fully enclosed staging area, separate from the general field
  • You will be the first wave to depart from the start
  • You will continue be included and ranked within your age group
  • You will be eligible for overall race awards

WHAT CONSTITUTES A TEAM?
Relay teams consist of three relay team members; each member runs approximately one-third of the race. There will be transition areas at the beginning of leg 2 and 3 of the race, where relay team members will pass their team's timing chip to the member running the next leg of the race.

CAN 2 PEOPLE RUN THE RELAY?
No. All relay teams must consist of three team members.

IF WE REGISTER AS A TEAM, CAN WE ALL COMPLETE IN THE ENTIRE RACE?
No. Racers who have completed their race leg are NOT permitted to finish the race, nor are they permitted to assist other relay team members in any way while they are participating in the event. Racers interested in running the full race should register as a solo.

CAN A TEAM MEMBER BE REPLACED?
Yes. Please call 1-855-466-2290 or email registration@menshealthurbanathlon.com to speak with a race representative.

DO ALL RELAY TEAM MEMBERS NEED TO BE PRESENT FOR PACKET PICKUP?
No. One team member may pick up your packet for you. However, they MUST have copies of all non-present team members' driver's licenses. Additionally, if a Promotional Code was used, the picking-up party MUST also have a copy of the appropriate Promotional Code ID (see "How do promotional codes work?" for details).

IF I AM RUNNING SOLO, CAN SOMEONE PICK UP MY PACKET FOR ME?
Yes. A third party can pick up your packet for you. However, they MUST have a copy of your driver's license. Additionally, if a Promotional Code was used, the picking-up party MUST also have a copy of the appropriate Promotional Code ID (see "How do promotional codes work?" for details).

AM I REQUIRED TO RETURN MY TIMING CHIP AFTER THE EVENT?
No. Timing chips are disposable and should be thrown away after the event.

WILL THERE BE ANY PLACE TO LEAVE MY STUFF?
Gear Drop stations will be available on-site the day of the event. All information regarding Gear Drop will be enclosed in racer packets
