    Event & Race Info

The Men's Health Urbanathlon™ is a rigorous race and obstacle course that incorporates challenging urban obstacles at iconic city landmarks. Each race can be completed as an individual racer or a three-person relay team. Please note that course details for the 2008 races are still being finalized at this time and are subject to change.

New York City Course
NYC Course MapThe race starts at 7 am at the 72nd Street Bandshell in Central Park. Runners exit at W. 72nd toward Riverside Park. They will continue south down the West Side Bike Path along the Hudson River encountering obstacles at Piers 84 and 54. Racers keep moving south toward 7 World Trade Center and enter the building to ascend and descend the 52 stories using the stairs. Upon exit, runners will continue south to Battery Park City, the Financial District, and the race finish at Battery Park.

Urban obstacles will be encountered in the parks, on Piers 84 and 54, at other sites along the course to be determined, and at the finish.

The race is 7.6 miles long (8.1 including stair climb).

Chicago Course
Chicago Course MapThe race will begin at Upper Hutchinson and head north on Columbus, through the tunnel to the stairs leading down to the South River Walk. At the bottom of the stairs, athletes will head east along the river walk, crossing under Lake Shore Drive and gaining access to the bike path. They will run north over the Chicago River to the bike path that borders Navy Pier and follow it in a clockwise direction. After circling Navy Pier, they will head back south to Museum Campus and run along the west side of Soldier Field. From Soldier Field, the athletes will continue along the bike path south to 31st Street Beach. From 31st Street Beach, they turn back north toward Soldier Field and enter the stadium to climb the bleacher stairs multiple times. After completing the stair climb runners will exit the stadium, across Museum Campus, head under Lake Shore Drive and Columbus before turning north, once again, to the finish at Upper Hutchinson.

Obstacles unique to Chicago’s landmarks will challenge racers at Navy Pier, 31st Street Beach, Soldier Field, and at the race finish. More detailed information about obstacles will be available soon.

The race is approximately 10.5 miles long.
