A lifetime athlete, Eric was a star on the baseball and football fields and the rugby pitch in his younger days. After college graduation and Marine Corps training, Eric was on his third deployment to Afghanistan in December 2011 when he lost his right leg below the knee after stepping on an IED. Following his unfortunate early return from deployment, and a few very tough months of physical therapy, Eric was back in action—this time in the world of triathlon.

We’re so pumped to have you participate in the Men’s Health URBANATHLON® and want to fill you in on the URBANATHLON® $20K CHALLENGE. It’s our new fundraising call to raise $20,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation® by December 5, when we wrap up the second URBANATHLON in New York City.

We’ve got the first $10,000, if you can help us raise the other $10,000 by the end of this year’s race series. To help you get there, we’re partnering with Crowdrise and the Challenged Athletes Foundation to offer some pretty incredible prizes that you can win by fundraising for a great cause. And we’re not talking about free socks here. You can win bikes, gift cards, home gym packages, and dozens of other amazing prizes. It’s not a raffle. It’s not a contest. If you raise the money, you get the prize. It’s as simple as that.

Here’s all you need to do:

  1. If you haven’t already, create your fundraiser on our Crowdrise page.
  2. Send your page to your friends, family, co-workers, old flames, and that one kid you knew in elementary school. Keep your email short and sweet, and maybe even a little funny.
  3. Most importantly, ask everyone to support your URBANATHLON® adventure and the great cause you care about. We’ll be here to help every step of the way.
